ProtonVPN’s privacy-friendly email service ProtonMail gets a major update

The new design features a sharp new look, more personalization options, and an easy-to-use interface.

It was a little over 7 years ago when the first public beta of ProtonMail was released. Now it got a major redesign, featuring a sharp new look, more personalization options, and an easy-to-use interface — while still protecting your messages, contacts, and calendar with an end-to-end encryption.

ProtonMail’s new UI is modern & fancy

The new ProtonMail offers a modern look and feel and an easy-to-use interface so you can “spend less time managing your inbox and more time enjoying it.” In addition, it also offers:

  • Multiple layouts and themes so you can personalize your inbox
  • Redesigned keyboard shortcuts that make it easier to check messages
  • Quick filters for easy sorting of messages
  • A new App selector within the inbox for quick switching between Proton services

Again, ProtonMail still ensures that you are in control of your information at all times and you can use it to send end-to-end encrypted emails to both people who use ProtonMail and other email services. And the same applies to your contacts and calendars — they too will be encrypted; not even the ProtonMail staff will be able to read your inbox.

But that’s just a start, as right now the new design is only available on the ProtonMail web app. In the coming months, the same-new ProtonMail experience is also coming to their mobile apps.

We trust ProtonVPN and ProtonMail

It is a wonderful little combo to get both the VPN and secure email service from a single company. While ProtonVPN is not the biggest service out there, it does offer a great experience and we do recommend it to folks looking for a good VPN. While at their website, they may also decide to get a secure email which isn’t something other VPN service providers are offering. So do check it out to make sure your data is only yours.
