I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to be followed online (and offline for that matter). Therefore, I use a VPN with a zero-log policy that won’t leave any trace of my whereabouts on its servers. Which brings us to today’s story…
PureVPN hired Altius IT, an independent California-based Certified Information Systems Auditor, to perform a security audit of its systems and No-Log Policy.
Speaking of PureVPN’s No-Log Policy; it was introduced in 2018, after which the company’s privacy policy was amended to include the following:
We DO NOT keep any record of your browsing activities, connection logs, records of the VPN IPs assigned to you, your original IPs, your connection time, the history of your browsing, the sites you visited, your outgoing traffic, the content or data you accessed, or the DNS queries generated by you.
In case you wonder, Altius IT is a Certified Information Systems Auditor with a terrible looking website. Founded in 1993, the company’s staff has performed over 1,000 audits and assessments over a wide range of industries. Altius IT team members are experts in higher-level network security audit, risk management, assessment, and security consulting services and maintain certifications, including:
- Audit – Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Risk Management – Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC)
- Security – Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
When it comes to PureVPN, Altius IT provided the following conclusion:
[we] did not find any evidence of system configurations and/or system/service log files that independently, or collectively, could lead to identifying a specific person and/or the person’s activity when using the PureVPN service.
So, yes, this makes PureVPN a Certified No-Log VPN. Don’t know about you, but that’s a big plus in my book.
